Fall is here and so is Crock Pot Wednesday.

Where has the summer gone? I must admit I enjoyed every single day. I can’t say that I was idle all that time, but I did have my quiet moments to just sit out on the deck with my kindle and a cold glass of homemade lemonade and enjoy the day.

Our vegetable garden produced better this year then it has in probably 3 or 4 years. I especially enjoyed the fresh from the vine tomatoes. Discovered a new recipe “Tomato Pudding”! The herbs over took their corner site and gave off the most savory aromas. I will be bringing in as many plants as I can and drying the rest.

I can not ignore the sights, smells and feel of autumn in the air. I am looking forward to all that this season has to offer. Yes, there is something special about the smell of the air. Is it the hint of burning wood or fresh crisp apples or yummy fresh baked apple pies? I don’t know but I love it.

It is crockpot time again! I will be adding new recipes and also including favorites from the past years.
Our first crockpot will be:

Wednesday October 19th: The meal for that day is Apple Butter Pork Loin with Vegetables. the pork is seasoned with a spiced apple butter and slow cooked in an apple cider with root vegetables. Don’t forget the surprise dessert. Great meal to kick off the fall and Crockpot Wednesdays season.

Wednesday October 26th: Mmmmmmm. Savory Chicken Stew with Cheddar Cornmeal Dumplings. The stew is seasoned with fresh herbs, chucks of tender chicken, rich chicken stock and autumn vegetables. Topped with cheddar and cornmeal dumplings.

Please email your reservations a week ahead for the weeks you will be dropping off your crockpots. Prices are the same, $20.00 serving for 4, $30.00 serving for 6.

I am looking forward to being your personnel chef on Wednesdays again.
